Arts in Rockland (A.I.R.) The Purple Peacock Gallery is a proud member of AIR. The group was established to promote the City of Rockland as an arts destination to those who appreciate, respect and support the arts. The 31 members of AIR offer distinct, original works by established and emerging artists in a variety of media. Links to individual galleries and studios in Rockland available on their site.
Farnsworth Art Museum The Farnsworth Art Museum offers a nationally recognized collection of American art in its elegantly appointed galleries. Such great names in 18th- and 19th-century American art history as Gilbert Stuart, Thomas Sully, Thomas Eakins, Eastman Johnson, Fitz Hugh Lane, Frank Benson, Childe Hassam, and Maurice Prendergast are represented in the museum's permanent collection entitled Maine in America.
The museum also houses the nation's second-largest collection of works by premier 20th-century sculptor Louise Nevelson and has opened four new galleries to showcase contemporary art. Its Wyeth Center exclusively features works of Andrew, N.C. and Jamie Wyeth--America's first family of art.
The Farnsworth's library is also housed in its Rockland, ME, campus. Two historic buildings--the Farnsworth Homestead and the Olson House--complete the museum complex.
Jill Valliere of Valliere Design Jill Valliere's online portfolio of exquisite painted finishes now available through Purple Peacock Gallery. She has also developed an exclusive line of functional and fine art paintings for purchase directly from the gallery.
